Month 4 is over, and another 250 points has been added to the lists, resulting in a total of 1250 points. We are in the second half of the slow grow so let’s see what folks have added.
Sisters of Silence
Starting out with my Sisters of Silence and I added some elite operatives to my force. The Raptora Cadre is a fun unit and whilst I’m not a fan of the retinue rule the rest of the rules make them good enough for me that I wanted to run them. One issue that I’m going to have with Sisters from now on is that I will have to convert the rest of the models.
These Sisters are a good example, I attempted to make them look unique, using the logic of trying to make every model look like it could be a sergeant which I think I achieved with full helms big hair and unique posing.
Finally, I added a Knight Vestal, this Apothecary equivalent isn’t as useful in Sisters of Silence due to T3 it is still fun to add to a unit. When converting this model, I decided that I wanted to make them have gear for healing. Adding a saw to the arm from the chainfist from the Navy breachers and various pouches and cables from necromunda sculpts. Personally, I don’t consider this model complete as I want to add Apocatherian symbols and other details, but she is technically fully painted so I will come back to her later.
Overall, I didn’t add a huge amount to my force. I would like to have added more conversion work, but that is going to be difficult with the essentially monopose Sisters range.
Word Bearers
Moving onto the sons of Lorgar. So far, the Word Bearers haven’t actually had a compulsory HQ choice which has been rather funny in our casual games together. However, this changed this month.
The addition of a Diabolist adds some much-needed psychic support and a very narrative fitting choice. The usage of the “new” Chaos Sorcerer fits aethetically with the Word Bearers during the Heresy. Finally the addition of a Contemptor adds some much-needed bulk to the list, able to hold any position.
It’s going to interesting to see where the force moves on for next month.
Ultramarines
Moving onto the rival legion of the Word Bearers and the Ultramarines and some added armour support has been chosen for this Month.
A rhino is always a solid unit choice in my opinion and in the case of the Ultramarines works well alongside their legion trait.
Finally a Sicaran adds some heavy firepower to the Ultramarines, volkite sponsons and the Accelerator autocannon able to put out devastating damage to enemy infantry from far away. This model is set up so it could be used as a tank commander being prepared for the new rules for them in the Siege of Cthonia book.
Solar Auxilia
Moving onto the “Solars” and well it wouldn’t be an exaggeration to say that as a group we love the new Militia rules. Are they good? No, but the sheer amount of conversion and list building opportunities easily cements it as my favourite faction.
It would seem as though the tryhard agrees and so he has painted up a Cargo-8 a super fun model that reminded me that I need to paint mine. Whether or not we will see more solars or if we are going full Militia now remains to be seen.
Mechanicum
Finally, we come to the robot men from Mars, lets see what the split allegiance has added this month.
The traitors have added a big gun, so far most of the Automata have gone to the loyalists as they are playing the cybernetica but given the points we are getting too it was about time for the traitors to get a big boy. Now we have been told that this robot will not be a paragon of metal in most of our games which I do appreciate.
The loyalists have added some Servo Automata a strong support unit able to buff the rest of the big scary robots and keep them from following their programmed behaviour. Finally, another Archmagos added who will help ensure that the robots are kept well repaired.
Another month done
And so Month 4 comes to a close. we are getting very close to having full 2000 point lists soon, so it will be interesting to see what is added in the future.
